Comment:

These are the essential songs from Paul McCartney's solo career, including all of his singles, as well as some B-sides and album tracks. I personally think his solo career is overlooked, simply because The Beatles were so damn good. But there are many wonderful gems in this collection of songs. Part 1 of 4.

Nice work. I agree that Paul's post-Beatles work is under-appreciated, though I also think it's in part due to the fact that he issued some really, really crappy music (especially post-Wings). But Ram is a fantastic album, and "Give Ireland Back To The Irish" is a great track. Unfortunately, I still think Wild Life has got to be one of the most frightful albums by any former Beatle.

I agree with Marc except in his assessment of Wild Life, which I think is fantastic (my fourth-fave McCartney album after McCartney, Ram and McCartney II). Thanks for giving Paul props. I have a three-volume set called "People pass me by on my imaginary street." Feel free to check it out and compare notes. :-)

Thanks for the feedback you guys. I, too, enjoy Wild Life. It's actually included in Mojo's list of The Greatest Albums of All Time. It's interesting, too, that the first Wings album sounds the most like a McCartney solo record.

Rob, your three-volume set looks fabulous! I enjoyed the comments as well. Looks like you inadvertently sparked a John vs Paul debate. I, too, love them both, but I agree with you competely when you stated that Paul's superior song craftmanship and vocal ability seems obvious.

Looks nice - and I hate to be one of those "I-would-have-included-xyz" guys - but here I go: I woulda included Singalong Junk...

Ok, guys, that does it... I'm breaking out my copy of Wild Life and forcing myself to listen to it tonight. Hell, I spend import prices on the damn thing just to get "Ireland," so may as well get some use out of it. I'll let you know if I re-assess my views.
