Comment:

(31) Coasters - I'm a Hog for You Baby (This Little Piggie)
(32) Chicken Little - Ravon Darnell

I was just listening to Rufus Thomas do his "cockle shells & silver bells" riff in "Walking the Dog", & I started wondering how many other songwriters had delved into these early childhood memories -- quite a few, as it turns out, & here are some of them.
The five "eenie meenie minie mo" tracks are all completely different songs, as are the three "Little Boy Blue" tracks; & the Vibro Champs "Little Red Riding Hood" is nothing like the Sam the Sham song. The two versions of "Chicken Little" are both channeling Little Richard, though as far as I know he never did it himself. A group called the Shammettes did an answer song called "Big Bad Wolf" (to Sam the Sham's "Little Red Riding Hood") but my copy of it is such bad sound quality that it didn't even pass my lo-fi standards - too bad!
Little Boy Blue, come blow your horn!

Yay! We really do think of similar themes. Such a fun mix. It's been a while since I've seen anything about the Vibrochamps!

This looks great! And you didn't have to resort to any bubblegum songs to complete it, like Tommy Roe's "Jack and Jill", the Beagles' "Humpty Dumpty" or the 1989 Musical Marching Zoo's "Mother Goose is on the Loose."

Then there's Paul McCartney & Wings handling "Mary Had A Little Lamb." And wrong genre entirely, but Genesis' "The Musical Box" (from the fabulous Gabriel era) incorporates a bit of "Old King Cole."
