Comment:

I can't believe as recent ago as the start of June, I'd never heard anything by The Decemberists. I think the beauty of getting into a band when they've already got an arsenal of great songs, is that you can get into them all at exactly the same time, and you don't have to go "hmmm i don't like the stuff of castaways as much as her majesty etc etc" based on when you got into them, because it's all at the same time. The trouble with the decemberists is, of course, that The Tain is about five times longer than most of their other songs, and so will probably always make the number of songs on each side fantastically uneven. As you can see. The cover I made for this tape is PERFECT - i found a pitcure from a childs book about "great inventions" and one picture has someone riding a penny farthing, and another picture has a 1920's couple in a motor car in the countryside with a castle in the background, waving at two jolly people cycling past, one holding a brown flat cap. I think I like the picture because I imagine the decemberists all ride penny farthings around town and have 1920s motorcars and victorian caps and black moustaches
