Comment:
A shot at the usual rules of a "Frankenstein Mix". Here are the rules and some comments on the tracks I chose:o 1. A song from the last record you bought
From "Substrata/A Man With A Movie Camera" (2001)
o 2. A blues: not a necessarily a blues record but a song that is labeled (something) blues.
A classic Hawkins track with a peculiar lyrical reference.
o 3. A song that gets you going in the morning.
A very upbeat reggae/dance track.
o 4. A song that you think is romantic
From "Another Green World". A little bit cheesy but very romantic!
o 5. One of the earliest records that you can remember listening to.
The first LP I have bought. Europe - "The Final Countdown" (1987)
o 6. A song that you discovered from a film.
A great mellow Japanese pop song.
o 7. A song from your favorite band / artist.
The only band that matters.
o 8. A song from an artist band that you otherwise don't like, but like this one
I always disliked all the prog rock bands turned pop in the 80s but i like this song and had a great video too!
o 9. A lullaby.
A rather dark lullaby!
o 10. A song that makes you laugh / you find funny.
from one of my most favorite movies of all times. "The Life Of Brian"(1979)
o 11. A really good cover version
An excellent jazz medley of a reggae and a jazz track from the acclaimed trio.
o 12. A song that reminds you of school days
From the grunge/punk highschool days.
o 13. A song from an artist that you are embarrassed to admit you like
Everyone thins they suck but I find them quite funny and cool!
o 14. Whatever it is, it's got to be funky.
Not a typical funk song but a great funk bass riff and great lyrics too!
o 15. A song for those quiet rainy days.
Dub be good to me!
o 16. A song that no matter when you hear it makes you "Feel good".
I absolutely love this upbeat and hedonistic track from Madchester's greats!
o 17. A song with the word "Look" in the title.
A hip hop/jazz track with roy Ayers on vibraphone.
o 18. From a member of the "Dead rockers society".
Reggae's iconic figure!
o 19. Your favourite Elvis song.
It speaks for itself!
o 20. Wildcard - Hey, just put any song you like on!
Originally by a dutch sound collage artist Solex and covered here by Seattle's country/folk rockers The Walkabouts. A very weird cover indeed!
Feedback:
Frankenstein returns! Nice one.
