Comment:
The legend says the a great single LP is hidden into the originally triple-vinyl, (now double CD) extragavant, rather messy & confused "Sandinista"(1980) by the Clash. 35 tracks from an unbelievable range of music genres from punk & reggae to rap, dub, r'n'b, gospel and even children choir version of previous recordings!! It was savaged by the critics and rather ignored by the general public (although later on, The Clash will taste the taste of succes with "Combat Rock")during its time. Now here's my version of that great lost Clash LP! I'm interested to see other people's versions of that great single LP that 'Sandinista" could be...Feedback:
Good effort - but I couldn't cut the 3 LPs down to 1 - I love the messiness of the whole thing - I would however add Radio Clash to the setlist...
Nice idea.
I'd have to take a long hard look at the album to see how my choices would compare with yours. But at least you've got my favourite Clash song (Up In Heaven), so we're good :)
Was it really a children's choir? I thought it was more like the kids of a session keyboard player or something just messing around. The name Mick Talbot leaps to mind, but I'm not sure. It might've been Micky Gallagher. Have to dig out the vinyl and see, I guess.
