Comment:

Ah, Bolywood... The music from 1970's Hindi films is at once sublime and filled with 70's kitchy goodness. I put together of the best songs I have in my collection from the 70's movies. Considering India churns out about 8 times as many movies as Hollywood does in any given year, I can't claim to have heard but a fraction of the era's music. Nonetheless, I think this comp really sums up what I love so much about the music. From 70's bass lines so funky they would fit right in on the Superfly soundtrack, to folky melodies that blend traditional elements with cinematic soundscapes, Bollywood sounds for hipsters abound. Title of film each song is from appears in ().
Cover includes several images of actual movie posters from some of the films featured here. Disc two of two.

To the best of knowledge I don't actually know any of these songs in particular, but I've heard plenty from the genre and commend you for even tackling this mix. The Bollywood soundtracks are all over the boards, and I'll agree with you that at times it gets downright funky! Nicely done. -Dale

Wonderful! Wonderful I say. "Chura Liya Hai Tum Ne" is a personal fave, but, it's all good. Really good.

Laura, somehow I didn't see these when you listed them but I've just been listening to Erik's "Bollywood for Mary" disc which has definitely got me hungering to learn more . . .any possibility I could trade you anything for these, to broaden my Bollywood education?

This CD might even be better than the first -- nice and funky, this one.
