A friend of mine asked me to make her a cd with some songs by a band called 'Surround' that a couple of our mutual friends are in. She specifically wanted their very early recordings - 'Kool', a tirade against the 'jocks and cheerleaders' (but with a British slant), and 'Racist Riot' which was a sort of sub Propagandhi 900mph political rant about religious studies in schools. It's all hilarious, but I thought I'd put on some of their real songs to even it out (Blue and White Dress isn't bad, especially the instrumental demo). I then added some 'oldies' because she hinted at it. Basically I put on some of my favourite 'old songs' and arranged them into some vague order - the sort of mic that girls dance around to and sing along with in my imagination.
