When I transfered colleges, I found myself in dire need of a companion. I noticed a beautiful black haired and bespectled boy in my Greek Mythology lecture who always had on headphones before and after class, and I thought a neat way of introducing myself would be to give him a mixed CD of run of the mill, cheesy pick-up songs about like/love. I gave it to him during the middle of September, and when he finally got back to me, our conversation went something like this:

Him: I listened to your CD.
Me: Oh, did you like it?
Him: Um, what kind of music did you think I listened to?
Me: I... I don't know. Good music?
Him: I just don't get this indie stuff. I like pop m music. You know... like Ashlee Simpson.

The Decemberists and French Kicks are the only independent bands on the record, and that was the last time I give a CD to a stranger.
