Comment:
Roots music mostly from back-country 1930's musicians, or thereabouts. If I could tune into music from 50-70 years into the future, you know I would, but unfortunately that dial on my time machine has never worked, so when I want to escape present-day reality, I go in the other direction . . .
Actually some of these musicians are only pretending to be old-timey, so a true moldy fig (like R. Crumb) would have to cover his ears
to avoid hearing fiddler Suzy Thompson & a few others, but I think they've got the spirit.
Feedback:
HaHa, Jeff. You are in the right place musically, my friend. A quite stunning collection from you once again.
thumbs up on this one!!!!
I don't know most of these, but goldangit! I wish I did. Again, I'm impressed.
Absolutely! Much that's strange to my ears here, but it's in great company. I've always heared to hear more by the Hokum Boys.
A cotton pickin' great one!
trade? i know i'd love this mix.
I only know the Delmore Brothers track, but I'm sure this is great.
Cool old timey stuff from the way back machine. Very nice.
excellent! I only know a few of the tracks but think I'd love the whole mix!
know a few but dig all
It's like Hee Haw, but for real!
Great theme and nice execution on this disc.
Awwww Right! You're playing my tunes! More and more I find myself listening to music -- country, blues, and jazz -- from the 20s, 30s and 40s.... and a few of today's whippersnappers with the same spirit. The old, weird America. There's a lot to discover.
You make some of the best mixes here, Jeff. Top notch. (And needless to say, this would be nice in a next trade exchange).
Great stuff!
This looks fabulous - you've done it again. The Carter Family were major pioneers. What's with the "New" Salty Dog Blues - we don't cotton to no newfangled music here in this holler.
Ol' Tymey = Good Tymey! I bet this sounds great - no shortage of the Hokum Boys!
Although I can't claim to know everything here, this looks fantastic (as ever) - would love to hear it.
Not an area of music I know much about -- which means I would like to know more! Nice mix.
Great Stuff!
Outstanding.
Top 40 damnit! This is really great.
How did I miss this? Those Coon Creek Girls can pick!
