Comment:

Listen. Here is a collection of songs that tell great stories - so action-packed and suspenseful that you can easily imagine the movie that could go along with it. There's death and disaster in many of these songs. Some people meet the devil. Others meet their maker as a result of being shot, freezing, drowning, having car accidents, or having their throat cut. A few songs, such as the tracks of Tim O'Brien and Lyle Lovett, provide comical relief.

Great idea, Claude, and well executed. I'd love to hear 15! 17 is one of my fav. tunes -- I've got about 4 versions of it! : )

Nice collection of stories. Seems like there are a lot more good ones out there. For vol. 2 : Tom Russell - Gallo de Cielo; Dylan - Rosemary & the King of Hearts; Stagger Lee (Stago-lee) which lots of people have covered; Grateful Dead/Bob Weir's 2 western songs - Mexicali Blues & Jackstraw (they often did El Paso, too); Springsteen - State Trooper.

Or Springsteen's "Highway Patrolman," or the Johnny Cash version thereof.
