Comment:

It's probably a mistake to patronizingly look back on any earlier era as a simpler happier time than ours, & certainly the 1930's in reality were a lot rougher than the 21st century has been so far, BUT
through the miracle of selective listening we can create for ourselves the same bright peppy poppy happy mood that the dance floor crowd was looking for (& getting!) from the music scene of the day

so, this set is in much the same spirit as my earlier

We've Got to Put the Sun Back in the Sky a.k.a. "It's a Great World After All", which I know a lot of people have enjoyed.

A few of the tracks here that may be less familiar, or are new discoveries for me: #12 Cleo Brown's "When Hollywood Goes Black & Tan" is an infectious fantasy about a day when Hollywood lays off Clark Gable & Jean Harlow to make room for Cab Calloway, Josephine Baker, etc.
#23 "Let's All Sing Like the Birdies Sing" is a mock music hall number with interspersed bogus birdcalls & of course a catchy trilling tune.

Happy days are here again!

If the Boswell Sisters were on every mix, the world would be a better place. This is great.

Lovely, J the Z!
Is that "Birdies" song the same one Disney used? Any version's got to be better than theirs!

How many box-tops in order to get this?

Dang! Just as soon as we finish a trade, you post this. Oh well, I'll put it on my wish list. I'm one of those who has enjoyed "Sun Back in the Sky." It never fails to bring a smile. And, if they made it through the Depression with these tunes, maybe we can survive W's theocracy......... maybe.

'S'what I get for waiting. I'd have expressed similar thoughts akin to Mr. Onn's, and lo-fi's, too. They (the artists represented herein) had the "when life gives you lemons" attitude down! Uplifting. Just as music can be.
