Comment:

Musicians who choose to rock with the piano. At first I could only think of Ben Folds, but after searching through most of my musical collection I found these. Any Suggestions? I'm still working on this.
P.S. By "rock" I mean play or awesome. Not like loud or rolling.

I like Emm Gryner and Rufus Wainwright, to name two Canadian piano-using performers. But I wouldn't call them, or most of those listed above, folks who "rock" out with the piano.

"I'm still here" is quite a song. As far as suggestions go you might want to look into some Murder By Death, they use piano in a good portion of their songs. The Black Heart Procession would be a good investment as well. Elliott Smith used a piano in two or three songs, but I'm not sure how "rocking" you would consider his music.

tori amos is really good, but when she really "rocks" it, it's usually on a harpsichord, which is supremely awesome. i guess a lot of what i could say depends on your definition of "rocks" cause if you mean like 'rock n' roll,' i would totally tell you to get some like... journey on there or soemthing (you know.. all those bands from the 70's with male lead singers who could sing well.) if you mean "rocks" as like 'does well and in a manner that one is apt to like,' then i would suggest some jellyroll morton.

A song by Muse (maybe "Apocalypse Please" or "Piano Thing", well no, last one's an instrumental, not very rocking) would also fit in that mix and check out Placebos "Teenage Angst" (piano version)

You could always go back to the early days - Memphis Slim, Ray Charles, even Little Richard. And there was also a time, I swear I'm not making this up, when Elton John actually rocked a little before he turned into a doughy hair replacement model.
