Comment:

More hits from the hard drive. Between buying used cds while I hang around work waiting for things to happen (that's what producers do a lot ... hang around and wait for things to go wrong) ... and grazing through my collection, I had these odds and ends. I've been buying lots of low-fi-ish stuff, things that are unusual for me. So ... (1) continuing in the jones for jazz vein, what could be better than Dexter Gordon playing a Charlie Parker tune about New York in Paris? (2) this cut just jumped out from across the room (3) I've always had a soft spot for Bananarama; this cut is just so very 80s! (4) The Magnetic Fields have just entered my field of vision thanks to Rob Conroy ... love them (5) No idea what train of music hunting led me to these two, but the more I listen to this CD the more I like it, plus I always love strange covers of songs I never even liked (6) likewise with these guys, they just showed up on my radar; extremely nice playing, some wailing slide on this (7) my pal Jason insisted that I would like Ray and Sharon (no. 15) and he was right ... I expect better things out of Ray (8) perennial favorites ... (9) underrated Robben Ford. Love it. (10) Jimmy Witherspoon and the Duke Robillard Band -- how could it not be good! (11) this Van Mo cd is a hidden classic ... soulful and lots of instrumentals, all played by Van (12) heard Judy sing Amazing Grace on a PBS special and realized I was not paying enough attention. Just a classic, a beauty. (13) the good old days when Lindley was backing Browne ... a great show that I didn't attend ... but I got go the next year and they played together again ... a terrific musical moment for me (14) Aren't we all feeling this way, again? Another timeless punk song (15) R&B straight up the way you like it -- Sharon's voice could bring this administration to its feet for dancin' and that ain't easy! (16) & (17) are just tasty choices from some new (for me) discoveries. Now ... time to go home and sleep off the rest of this hangover! Enjoy

Some nice choices. And, again, thanks for all the info - track/album & your personal comments. The info makes it easier to "hear" and also to think about checking out some things I don't know.
