Comment:
There was a great article in last months Uncut about one of the most underrated artists in the world, Kim Fowley... you may not have heard of him, but I bet you have at least one of his records...Probably the most influential man in pop, he was a Byrd, a Mother of Invention, and peddled more bubblegum pop than anyone else ever could. Here are load of tracks written by, associated with, influenced by, or that just make me think "Fowley".
These tend to be 60s freak outs, and girl groups.
Feedback:
Outstanding Surfin Dead! (Saaf did a great single artist mix; check MixId=81322...)
This is a boss tribute. Kim's too unsung. The true mayor of the Sunset Strip as well as the world's oldest teenager.
Excellent. I agree with your assessment. Fowley is the Animal God of Rock & Roll. For more Fowley, check out his 2000 appearance on WFMU.
Excellent! Certainly worthy of much more feedback
Yes Yes Yes! Great tribute to a real freak. Do check out Saaf's mix - it rules, too.
Great tribute, great mix!
Super duper tribute to the guy who let Cheap Trick slip through his fingers!
