Comment:

I started compiling songs for this mix years ago, and then lost all my notes (and some MP3s) in the great computer crash of ought-three. Anyway, I suddenly felt an urge to complete what I had begun, and so here we are. In fact, I almost have enough songs for a second volume with the same theme, although there is a dearth of stuff from 17 to 23, as well as a couple other gaps...so I'm open to suggestions.

It is true that I doubled up on Brave Combo in this mix, but their first appearance is really more of a Tiny Tim song than a Brave Combo song.

Thanks to non-AotMer Debby for track 6, Jenergy for track 16, and Jana P. for having included track 22 on one of her mixes, because I was not finding anything I liked for track 22 and just started searching the AotM archives for all the songs with "22" in the title. Fortunately, the song was posted online, and it was a winner.

Nice, and glad to have added to the mix.

How about The Buttholes' "22 going on 23"? Or better yet, Laurie Anderson's "Example #22" (although the lyrics only include the number in German, Beispiel Nummer zweiundzwanzig).

Or you could get all pretentious & include something like the the Well-Termpered Clavier, No. 22 in B-flat minor.

I did consider getting all pretentious and using the Coldcut remix of Steve Reich's "Music for 18 Musicians" for 18, since, even though the number isn't mentioned in the song, it is integral to it. (Also thought about "Take Five" for the same reason.) Maybe on volume 2.

Looks like another "by the numbers" mix to me! I especially like track 5 for obvious reasons. So when will we see 26-51?
