Comment:
Volume III of my Coltrane series. I have in my collection a handful of folks playing Coltrane tunes, but mostly the same song(s) (I've got 4 `Giant Steps,' for example). I'd love to hear other `covers' if you got `em. Drop me a note if you do. This is a little weaker than I'd like, but it's not like I have room to add much else. Maybe for a series overhaul/re-think down the road.Feedback:
Good work again, but I don't think I've heard any of this.
Very Nice Edward. It would be very interesting to listen to James Carter doing Naima and then hearing Coltrane doing it.
Nice, indeed.
Great finish to the series, Edward. I have an excellent (imo) version of Mr PC done by an Irish group with
Tommy Hayes & Brian Dunning on flute (which I will get to you).

A Great series Edward!
Fantastic series.
Top-Notch, Edward.
Great mix. Apart from 2,4,5,10 and 12 I don't have any of these. There is the Marilyn Crispell record, For Coltrane, and the Charles Gayle record Touching on Trane, but these don't have Coltrane's music on them. There is the Archie Shepp record 4 for Trane, which might be the best thing Shepp has ever done. The Art Ensemble of Chicago does Impressions and a few other Coltrane compositions on the Dreaming of the Masters suite; Braxton plays Countdown on 23 Standards and Trane's Blues on In the Tradition, Dave Burrell does a fascinating solo version of Giant Steps segueing into Moment's Notice on this live cd I bought from him, Live at Caramoor. Joe McPhee does After the Rain on As Serious as Your Life. David Murray plays Coltrane pretty frequently, there's that Octet Plays Trane record. My wife loves the version of Giant Steps that Joe Pass opens Virtuoso #2 up with, but that may be one of your 4 versions. Great mix, Great Composer.
nice.......keep banging 'em out Edward!!!!!!!
Wonderful. Love the Billy Bang and String Trio of New York versions especially.
