Nostalgia for New Wave
Comment:
Not too far removed from a "New Wave's Greatest Hits" collection, which hardly needs doing, but I just wanted to pull some of my favorites together in one CD.And, as an instance of everything old being new again, a lot of these I've played to death so that they're now extremely familiar - standards - but these are the ones that in spite of that I can still feel the excitement of the challenge they must have thrown down when they first hit the air. In my book, these are the ones that don't wear out.
Feedback:
Reminds me fondly of college. Very nice for a bit of head bangin' & pogoing the night away.
yes could be "New Wave's Greatest Hits" but that doesn't make it any less than classic
Just what p said. This is all fantastic.
Looks great! I always get a hankerin' for this kind of music in the spring.
Takes me back to NYC. (I can almost smell CBGBs)
This is much better than a "New Wave" collection -- because somebody who LOVES the music picked out the tracks! :) I never get tired of "Dance This Mess Around" and "Pump It Up."
Cool - I'm dj-ing an 80s night next week. I think I'll steal some of this playlist. Killer opener and closer, to say the least.
really great stuff, Jeff.
Lots to like here.
We were gonna change the world...
Excellent. Lots of favorites!
With a couple of exceptions (really great songs themselves) the bands may well be the fodder of greatest hits packages, the songs however are not the usual choices. Nice one!
Wot I'm thinking is that Siouxsie & Banshees never sang Oh Bondage Up Yours (u may have a bootleg with it on in which case I'm sorry or I'm not as big a Siouxsie fan as I thought and her version of the X-Ray Spex classic sliped me by)..a great lookin mix Mr De Vivre.
Dom, you're right of course I must have had Siouxsie on the brain
or maybe the so-called brain was just off duty yesterday. . . I'll just correct that now, (thanks for the wake-up call) --

Really cool. Makes me want to get a moe-hawk and hit the clubs
Very Nice!!!
Would love to trade for this one.

Great stuff Mr. de vivre.
Long time no see! Oddly, this is basically an exact replica of my current mp3 stock. I can't stop saying this: I SAW THE REZILLOS AT SXSW. FOR FREE. (No 'e' btw). It was the best show I'd seen in aeons. Fay Fife is still hot and a better singer than ever. Hail Scotland!! Hope you're having a great year...
sorry i'm a bit late on this, but its a great mix, i keep meanin to post the plastic bertrand orig, have you heard it ?
i love the pic of siouxsie & jordan lookin like they've just had a run in ! jordon may have had the (westwood) clothes, but did'nt siousxie look gorgeous ! the only thing i'm a little curious about is if you had to change 'bondage' did'nt you have an urge to then add a siouxsie tune ?
