from the winter solstice, 1994. alone in my room with the sandalwood candle burning. wind and sleet at my window. there's the first side, where the mysteries are established, external, abstract. then, on the "vessel" side, they are drawn into the body and made concrete. like striking a giant metal cylinder, there's more than just the noise on impact, there's something that goes on. i drove to work with this in my car's cassette deck, before dawn on the day after christmas. there was so much fog i couldn't see up the road, so much fog i barely knew my windshield for a windsheield. it was the right tape to play.
