Comment:

This is my final entry to the Mixpool part II, a mix trade I organized for a group of 25 people. I wanted this particular mix to sound completely different from the other contributions, so I selected the songs primarily for their minimal, accoustic or simplistic sound. I also specifically allowed myself to include older songs and songs that I maybe haven't listened to in years, whereas my usual approach to mixmaking is to keep it fairly current. I also injected a theme so that the tracks, when played in order, tell a subtle story. At its most basic, this mix is about looking back at a previous time in your life when things were painful... the idea that time heals all wounds. The title comes from the J.J. Cale track and the cover and inside photos are pictures of an old swing set I used to play on as a kid. I mixed this one in March, 2005 and made 30 copies. Its companion mixes are Killing and Skineating: Mixpool 2.1 and Pass the Music: Mixpool 2.2. My entry for the first mixpool was Shooting Stars and Satellites. Finally, I would suggest that this is at least partly an extension of a break-up mix I made called The Desert South of Magdalena.
