summer is almost here?

Artist Song
pas/cal  summer is almost here
sambassadeur  new moon
voxtrot  start of something
saturday looks good to me  until the world stops spinning
rogue wave  endless shovel
the fruit bats  when u love somebody
the lucksmiths  hiccup for happiness
peter adams  the disappeared
astropop 3  same old story
the pipettes  kitchen sink
the sunday sinners  are you sure
the slow slushy boys  idleness
purple wizard  i've been wrong before
the legends  call it ours
teenage fanclub  it's all in my mind
the embassy  it never entered my mind
the young tradition  now you know
the arrogants  the distance between us
pipas  what nobody does
camera obscura  teenager

Comment:

This is a mix for myself I put together this week of recent songs and older ones I could play over and over again. I was listening to the nice new pas/cal single during these past few 50 degree days (the coldest may in 40 years!), and I was hardly convinced that summer is almost here. So I threw this mix together of my idea of summer songs--breezy pop for the pool/beach and toe-tapping singalongs for the roadtrips--with the hope that it would bring summer here faster. I never set out to do a summer theme, I know this would've turned out differently if I had.

About the tracks: the pipettes song has to be the catchiest song I've heard in a long time(or ever??). The slow slushy boys are a french band with a mean farfisa and a singer who sounds like elvis costello. the voxtrot song is real solid too... you can hear it at their myspace page.

Ugh, you're having the coldest May in years? We're having the hottest. (110 degree heat already.) Very nice mix.. I had almost forgotten about pas/cal.. thanks for reminding me. :)

of course the day after I post this the weather goes from 50 to 75 and sunny... listening to that pas/cal song on my walkmen in short-sleeves with the sun beaming down is a much more enjoyable experience than being bundled up battling 40 mph wind gusts.

Yes, that new Pas/Cal tune is great. Found at their website, correct? I like what I've heard from the Pipettes. but I don't think I've heard Kitchen Sink. Will investigate soon. Oh yes, excellent mix. Lovely cover.

Wow-- this looks really delightful. I've heard good things about the Pipettes, so I'll have to check them out soon.
