The inside juke-box roars out just like thunder
Comment:
Yet another favorite of mine. This artist had a lot of talent i think. He could play from jazz to rock and roll and it sounded great. My favorite song of his would have to be "And It Stoned Me" followed close by "Madame George"Feedback:
I also love Van. My S.A. mix (Feeling The Need) has a lot of these songs on it.
Nice. It's weird that you posted this today, as I was just thinking that I need to do a Van mix someday.... My problem, though, would be figuring out what to cut from Astral Weeks, Moondance or Veedon Fleece... not to mention whether or not to include a couple of great songs ("Cleaning Windows," "In the Garden" and a few others) from the period where he was past his prime. Nice job, though I never need to hear "Brown-Eyed Girl" again.
lol Rob, I would have never guess that you liked him after looking through your list. I put Moondance on because it is suck a great song to listen to after you have had a couple of beers. As for "Brown Eyed Girl" I totally agree, but it made his career. Good luck on your mix Rob.
Thats such not suck :-)
I'm not really a mega-fan of his, to tell you the truth. I like Them well enough to own a two-disc collection of all of their work; I like T.B. Sheets, His Band..., Tupelo Honey, and St. Dominic's Preview reasonably well; I really, really love Veedon Fleece and Moondance; and I absolutely bow to/worship openly Astral Weeks. Also, Into the Music, No Guru, No Method, No Teacher and Beautiful Vision are passable (and each feature a great song or two). Otherwise, though, I think he's massively overrated...
True he is overrated but mostly his early stuff i think. Them is a great band i also love those guys. I will be posting a mix by Them soon also.
all great stuff here.
