Comment:

Inspired by the movie 10 Things I Hate About You. A quote from the movie states that one of the lead's musical preferences was "angry grrrl music of the indie rock persuasion". The soundtrack then consisted of things like Sister Hazel, and The Cardigans. Bit of a dissapointment. I took it as a challenge to design an alternate soundtrack. :) A lot of the inspirations, and quite a few songs, are from the movie "All Over Me". Mmmmmm... watch it. Anyways, made this a while ago. Fun in the car, great in the walkman. Play loud. Until next time...

wonderful alternate soundtrack. it sickens me what the mainstream considers "indie" or "grrrl"-- or even "angry". i was flipping through people magazine (ech.) at my dr's office & i saw that they referred to alanis morrissette as a "feminist rocker". d'oh! kathleen hanna could sooooo kick her ass. :)

seventeen magazine mentioned belle and sebastian once. it had something to do with a boyfriend who listened to limp bizkit all the time and was unable to dig the romantics of that b&S soft music. and damn that alanis straight to hell. my cousin went to her high school in canada. she sang the national anthem on tape for the school. inst that nice. and this was before she hit rock, if you even knew there was a pre-rock alanis. nice tape.

this is really awesome. this /should/ be the official ten things i hate about you soundtrack. hollywood doesnt know how to spell indie. blah. i was impressed they did know who the gits were though [well enough to put a gits poster in her bedroom]... hmm.
something about my riot grrrl feminist anti-hollywood self still likes the movie though.

This is really great!!! I felt just like you did when I saw the track listing for the soundtrack, so one time when I watched it, I wrote down some of the songs that were played in the movie. "Calypso" by Spiderbait is a lot of fun, as is Joan Jett's "Bad Reputation". And hey, you can't forget The Slits and The Raincoats. I am so so impressed with this. Hell yeah!

oh wow! you must be psychic because this is exactly what i need! a boy at work is totally anti-girl right now due to a horrible break up, so to play with his little mind, i wanted to make him a totally girl, totally rawk cd!

yeah, i agree! i was dissapointed to know that i had wasted 13 bucks when i bought the ten things i hate about you soundtrack, but the mixes that you come up with are great!! Needless to say, YOUR "angry grrrl music of the indie-rock persuasion" mix should have definetly been the soundtrack to the movie! i think the donnas are awesome and it's about time!! thanxs for making such great tracks, obviuosly hollywood couldn't!

they make what sells, but they did better with the tracks in the movie that didn't make it such as the slits and the raincoats, and they did mention bikini kill. excellent mix.
