Comment:
A Double Disc - Somewhat Random Collection - which, didn't turn out that random, after all.Thematically and genre-wise there's a yearning, love-lorn feel found throughout this collection.
Disc One kicks off with some bombastic prog, psych, neo-psych which gives way to some extended avant psych/folk. Some lo-fi americana revival tunes are added and the disc culminates with a wonderful piece of pre-war gospel/blues.
Disc Two is a continuation. After a meddley of delta/piedmont blues a smooth transition is made to a number of Deep Soul numbers...another quick transition and the mix comes to completion with some folk rock/folk/psych/rockabilly/blues rock/avant folk-psych and yet another fine acoustic blues-gospel tune.
The title of the mix is from the song of each disk. And, (once again, unintentionally) seems to depict the overall mood of the mix.
I hope you enjoy!
Feedback:
This looks fantastic, particularly the Skip Spence, Mt. Goats, Capt. Beefheart, James Carr, Skip James, Fairport, Aretha, Dylan, Grape, Red Krayola... hell, I love *all* of this, including that Yes song (I'm not a fan of the band, but that's one of their two or three best moments, IMHO). GREAT work.
Excellent. Lot of nice soul numbers!
Don't know much here but looks intriguing. Love the Yes and the Deerhoof! (Now that's a sentence I don't think I ever thought I'd utter.)
