i actually have this on cd, but made it originally on my ipod. i felt inspired driving thru rust bowl towns & seeing abandoned factories, and thinking about the area in upstate ny i grew up in, which is facing lots of rust bowl-type problems: unemployment, depression, failing farms, etc. how there are a lot of box stores taking over, so orchards are turning into walmarts (literally). i was going to add some more modern folk stuff, but i kept it simple and with bob dylan serving as the frame. i was feeling a dylan vibe at the time, so i stuck with it. the title is from a dylan song.
