Comment:

More pre-historic mixology from Bil's record collection, which he calls the "C3I SoundArchive". I forget exactly how many records he has, but the last time I visited him, he has segregated all his jazz CDs from the rest, and jazz was overflowing from a six-shelf tower. He has at least twice as many records as I do, emphasizing punk, jazz, and hip-hop; and as evidenced on this and future mixes, he shows them all off in an attempt to non-verbally trash-talk my own collection. Now, I'll have to revisit this mix to be sure, but the reason the two sides are so lopsided is probably the George Lewis track on side B, which is like a ten-minute trombone solo that is mind-breaking. Then again, that Roots song is a live track, that might be a little long, too. Plus those Bad Religion and Riverdales songs on side A are a little short. By the way, if you haven't heard the Riverdales, they sound just like the Ramones, and are totally unapologetic about it. This also has the Bahia Black song, featuring kids playing percussion on upturned pickle buckets. You might remember that kid from the Levi's ads and the Mariah Carey video; well, they do that all the time down in Bahia. When a hundred or so kids start whacking on their pickle buckets all at once, it makes a sound like a jet plane trying to land in the middle of an earthquake...=]'
