Comment:

After discovering a web site dedicated to whistling songs with over hundred mp3 files I knew the time had come for me to put together my own whistling mix. Several such mixes already exist on AotM, such as Dead Man's When You're Chewing On Life's Gristle, Don't Grumble. Give a Whistle! and RetroJoe's Whistlers Welcome, but while these mixes include some great tunes where whistling takes center stage, they also include others where whistling does not play an important role. This mix includes only whistling tunes where whistling is not playing second fiddle, so to speak, but where it is taking the role of the lead instrument. Only two tracks contain some singing (7 and 25). Track 3 and 23 are different interpretations of the same tune. Thanks to RetroJoe for some of the songs.

I modified one of Fred Lowery's album covers for the artwork of this mix.

I tried to download some of the tunes from that site, Claude, but the files didn't save as something I could listen to. Ah well. I think we're due for a trade anway, eh? This looks swell.

;) If you're into the somewhat strange and (from a British or American pov) exotic, give this a try. It'll definitely be worth your while.

"You know how to whistle, don't you?"

"You just put your lips together and blow."
Well, that's what Lauren Bacall said, but I suspect there must be a little more to it than that, 'cause I have hears some pretty sorry & tuneless excuses for whistling in my day -- on the other hand, a truly melodic whistle is a thing of beauty, as I know some of these are. Are you going to carry this forward into the 70's & 80's - disco whistling, punk whistling, rap whistlers, etc.?

You know my feelings about whistling; I suspect that listening to this mix in one sitting would drive me completely mad - not a long journey, I know. Having said that, I can see that there are some tracks on here that are probably quite sublime. Nice work, Claude.

Is it possible to get a CD of Fred Lowrey whistling the William Tell Overture Finale. I haven't been able to listen to any of them. Must be doing something wrong.
