Comment:

Which came first, the chicken or the accordion?

Accordions get less respect than any other instrument except possibly the banjo, so here's their revenge.
(Note that in track #9 the accordionists make cruel fun of banjo players - you'd think they'd show a little solidarity for their fellow outcastes - but, no -- )
To do it right I should have made at least one CD for cajun accordion & then a whole series for Norteno & Tex-Mex accordion, but this is just a scattered sampling. (For a concentrated dose of POLKA accordion, if you're a glutton for that kind of thing, you can also check out
Dots Polka for You! )

P.S. Travel tip: If you're a squeezebox fan , don't miss the magnificent MusTe de l'accordTon in Siran, in the Auvergne in France. Worth the trip, from anywhere!

This looks great, accordin' to me. Yes, i'd pay to see a bunch of accordian players and banjo players rumble. Sorry that I dropped the ball on our upcoming swap, but I still want to do it. I'll e-mail ya soon! P.S. Mama's got a squeezebox and daddy never sleeps at night.

I'd love to hear this one. I've recently developed a taste for accordion, and this looks very interesting. I love Tex-Mex, and during my last visit to Switzerland I came to appreciate the accordian in Swiss folk music, too. It plays a dominant role there. Hey, maybe I should make a Swiss Accordion mix?

Fantastic! I definitely don't like to pass up a nice bit of accordion, especially of the Cajun variety. And I like the banjo too!

I suspect this includes the ridiculous and the sublime... I'm curious to hear Wheels and Sing Sing Sing.

Accordion to my calculations, you're very accordionated. (C'mon - you know you want to laugh...). One of the things I loved about the great Ben Vaughn Combo is Gus Cordovox's accordion playing. It's a great instrument! It belongs in rock and roll. And so does this mix.

Looks great! Accordians fascinate me. I was drooling over the $500 antique accordians in a music store the other day. (these were smaller than the one in your picture, and wooden, I think.)

Ooh! I can't belive I missed this. It's lovely. There's someone near me whose car has a bumper sticker that says "I'm Proc-Accoridon and I vote!"

I admit to having an accordion fetish. I've seen footage of Mingo Saldivar playing - sexy.
