Comment:

Just a few notes on the mix...

I thought the "Wizard People, Dear Reader" cut made a nice, hilarious intro to the mix. Brad Neely is a madman. The fact that he keeps going like this FOR THE DURATION OF THE ENTIRE FIRST FILM is a testament to his insanity. Especially since I couldn't really find specific songs for Dumbledore, McGonagall or Hagrid, this functions as a decent catch-all, plus is a decent representation to the whole "Wizard People, Dear Reader" (http://www.illegal-art.org/video/wizard.html) phenomenon. Wish I could have fit some of the "Ronny the Bear" stuff on here too... I'll save that for the next mix.

The Toy Dolls track seems a bit harsh on Neville - he IS a nerd, after all, but he's entirely innocent of most of the things they accuse him of in this song. However, I just couldn't pass up a song titled "Neville is a Nerd". Sorry, Neville.

Mary Lou Lord's "Ron" seems to be about an itinerant, absent father, but hear me out. I would posit that it's actually narrated by a future Hermione, while Ron is out battling Death Eaters (or, perhaps, has been killed by them.) It becomes far more appropriate and poignant when viewed from that point of view.

Rasputina's cover of "Bad Moon Rising" won out over the S&M version of Metallica's "Of Wolf and Man" and Blitzkid's "Lupin Tooth" as my werewolf cut. Even though Metallica was way more dramatic, I like the creepiness of "Bad Moon Rising", particularly Rasputina's version of it.

Both Black Sabbath's "The Wizard" and the Skinny Puppy track are dedicated to Voldemort and the Death Eaters. I like the transitions from "The Bad Arts" through to the end... the mix definitely takes a dark turn, but ends on a high point with Harry and the Potters' "These Days Are Dark".

And that's that! If there was ever any doubt as to how nerdy I am, I think I've now eliminated any remaining vestiges of coolness from my reputation. And I say, whatever! I love this mix.

yes, sorry, the last band on the mix is harry and the potters, not the harry potters. it was named incorrectly and artofthemix isn't letting me go in and fix it.
