Comment:

So, the title basically says it all. I had a very interesting Saturday this past weekend. It started out with yours truly pulling a twelve hour shift at the co-op in order to cover vacations and whatnot for my staff. Then, I headed over to my good friend, Wendy's house to help unravel her dreads that she had been growing for 2 and a half years. Definitely, an awesome experience and something that I had never done before. That lasted until late Saturday evening and I made my way home, when I proceeded to run a red light right in front of a Chapel Hill policeman. Little did I know, I had a string of "failure to appears" at court dates for previous traffic fines I had in the past. (3 minor ones in 5 years) The next thing I knew, I was in handcuffs, riding in the back of a squad car to the police station to get fingerprinted, mugshots the whole bit. Long story short, I think there's some confusion with the paperwork somewhere down the line, as we had paid all my previous fines and were under the impression (it said so on my tickets) that if we paid the fine, we did not have to appear in court AND I never received ANY notice that I had missed any court dates or had my license revoked. All in all, a pretty eventful day and one I won't soon forget.
Oh yeah, thanks to lo-fi jr. for the Sir Lord Baltimore track and thanks to Rob Conroy for his recent obsession with the BJM, which spurred me to get on my own binge with the group. Great stuff.

VIVA the BJM!!!

Shawn.., any brush with "the law" is of no good. Arrogance is their watchword and guide. You survived and I hope you laugh often and LAST! Great Oneida track! Mars Volta, too....

Sorry to hear about your run in with the law. I'll add my vote for the mugshot as cover. Great stuff in the mix. I, too, was spurred to listen to BJM after Rob's multiple mixes. Also like the Black Mountain and Flaming Lips tracks.

This is definitely a knockout of a mix, my friend, although I'm sorry to hear about your problems with the Man (TM)--too bad I'm not licensed in North Carolina (although I almost took that bar exam right out of law school when I was contemplating a move to Charlotte) or I'd have been on a plane in a heartbeat playing Darrow to your Scopes. ;-) Thanks for the shout-out about BJM, as I am still obsessed with them and was about to comment favorably on that tune just prior to reading your comments. Also huge props to your Flaming Lips closer and your Royal Trux, Radar Bros, Mars Volta and Nirvana picks. I, too, received that Sir Lord Baltimore disc from lo-fi and I can't say it's done much for me, but I'll have to give it another spin when I (finally) unpack all of my CDRs.

Fantastic mix, but sorry to hear about the run-in with the rozzers; hope it all gets sorted in the end. As Jenny said, though, it makes for a good story and, evidently, a great mix - the JSBE, Mars Volta and Lips especially.

good lord shawn, I missed this debaucle (although the mix is excellent... nice pick from the royal trux too!). god bless the united states postal service. i hope you weren't wearing a beater when you ran that light... otherwise you may find yourself on television in the near future.
