Songs NOT to play in New Orleans
Comment:
UPDATE3 - Shuffled the ending about a bit and added the Beach Boys. Might have been better after the moldy peaches "i ride the greyhound bus, i reide it everywhere" "round round get around, i get around..." but anyways... Maybe someone should do a mashup of this lot on a single track, cut out all the unrelated stuff.UPDATE 2 - Removed kinesis - dead by sunrise. didn't notice i had two of theirs in, and it flows much better without it. also added pet shop boys - i get along. it just randomly appeared on my media player, and sounded like a happy ending to a rather sad event. NEWLY UPDATED - Thanks for suggestions, please email me mp3s if you have one you think should be added, christopher_friend@hotmail.com , takes forever to find stuff online.... A satirical compilation started as a joke from my collection of digitised CDs, but it turned out pretty nice, music wise. Beauty is, they all work well on their own as songs you shouldn't be playing anywhere near NOLA. Select lyrical samples: "and in blows the cane a, hurricane it, blows the windows closed, and pulls off all your clothes, and leaves a new state of embarresment" "and if you're cold, i'll keep you warm, and if you're low, just hold on, cos i will be your safety, oh, don't leave home" "it wasn't meant to be this way, i wonder what your daddy would say, all washed up, you're all washed up, in a postcard town, some people live hear all year round"
"Five days in this motherfucking attic, I can't use the cellphone I keep getting static "
"I ride the greyhound bus, I ride it everywhere" "i'm likely to cause mischief, good clean greif you must believe and I ain't no theif" "this is the sound of culture being drowned in it's own scum, in it's own scum. you're being lied to by those who should protect you"
"victorious evil up to it's usual no good, in the beggining life was all sweet talk in bluebell wood" "i get along, get along, without you, very well, get along very well"

Feedback:
if i were in new orleans, the last song i'd want to hear would be "when the levee breaks", by led zeppelin. i feel as though that should definitely be on your mix.
And where is "Waking On Sunshine"?
treading a very fine line, in my humble. Nevertheless, in the spirit in which I hope this is intended - maybe Chuck E Weiss, Dixieland Funeral?

story of my life really, so i don't worry about it. no offence intended, i just find this kinda thing amusing. black humour etc.
thanks for sugestions. thought of another myself: kaiser cheifs - i predict a riot. how could i have missed that. anyway, with my lack of musical knowledge and the fact i was only using stuff out of my own collection, i'm still ashamed of missing out the led zeplin one. i'll search it and others out and add them asap.

what about new "Orleans is Sinking" by The Tragically Hip. They are not aloud to play it at all on the radio!!
ha, this gave me a chuckle. BUT you left out the most obvious selection! The Scorpions "Rock You Like a Hurricane"
This excellent mix has been added to the Exhibit "Where You Got Those Shoes: New Orleans." Check it out at the AOTM Exhibits page.
