Comment:

Got the new McCartney CD and "Riding to Vanity Fair" completely grabbed me, so I built a themed mix around it. (Some other songs I considered but that didn't make the cut: New Order, "State of the Nation"; John Lennon, "Mind Games"; the Fall, "Totally Wired"; the Shins, "They'll Soon Discover".)

And, taking a cue from Moe, I've come up with a little puzzle for you. First correct answer wins a copy of the CD:

There's a band whose one-word name is particularly appropriate to this CD. That band has four songs that could have gone on this mix. One song's title ends with the word "Sky"; another's ends with "Parade" (which would be a slight stretch for the mix, but we'll let that go); and the third's ends with "Nature". The fourth song's title only fits the theme it's spoken aloud. What is the song?

That should read "...only fits the theme *if* it's spoken aloud." (AotM isn't letting me edit the liner notes for some reason.)

Okay, since I shell out these quizzes, I think it's only right that I answer as well. The answer? Magazine. Do I win a subscription?

Woops! I just saw that you needed the song title. I'll get back to you.

Okay, here's my guess-- "Real Life." There appears to be a UK magazine named "Reel Life" Am I right?

In my effort to come up with the answer, I failed to tell you how cool this mix is! Don't forget "Playgirl" by Ladytron, "Penthouse and Pavement" by Heaven 17 and of course, "Do the Hustle." Now you know where my mind's at! ;)

Oh so close, Moe! "Real Life" is an album title, but not a song title. But Magazine is the band, and I'll be clearer about what you're looking for -- the last word of the song title is not a magazine, but a homophone of a magazine (like thyme/Time). And it's a tricky one. (But if nobody else solves it, I'll send you a copy of the mix anyway.)

Oh, wait -- I misread your comment. You understood the homophone part. Never mind.

Okay, I think I got it -- Feed the Enemy (NME). Now I gotta get to work! I'm late, I'm late!

And Moe wins this *highly contested competition*! Congratulations! I'll toss it in tomorrow's mail.

Oh, and Moe, if you're going to go there, what about Jethro Tull's "Minstrel in the Gallery"?
