Comment:

For me, this was probably the hardest mix to make in quite sometime. One of my friends really got into a lot of 60s stuff a couple years ago, and has a really great ear for music, but never has really given newer stuff a try.

Since he loves The Band, especially Music From Big Pink, I decided to try my hand at imitating that album with two artists I know he'd like, Wilco and The White Stripes. For all the differences that lay between the three groups, I think they share the most fundamental aspects of what I like in music. Honesty, artistic integrity, relevance. I digress, though.

Because of all their differences, I couldn't match songs easily between them, so with a lot of these, it was more a matter of going with a general "feeling" rather than finding a song with the same arrangement or chord progression...hence why there are a lot of disparities between the Wilco and Stripes tracks. Regardless, I think it worked out pretty well.

Two of my favorite modern bands, for sure. Good selections, too.
