Comment:

The Theme here is "Bustling about the appartment doing the things that need to be done" - tidying, dishes, folding laundry, cleaning the litterbox etc. Every song is kept upbeat in order to keep the momentum of a good 'getting stuff done'.

The first song is inspired by a happening at a party years ago: it was the end of the evening, and a fine time had been had by all, and our place showed the toll (bottles, glasses and general party untidyness) and before everybody left, everyone agreed to tidy for the duration of a song - which ended up being ''the safty dance". You'd be surprised how much fun and how clean the place was and how much fun everyone had busting about too the song. It's become a tradition to give a house that you've been partying at a "safty dance" before everyone leaves.

P.S. - the song 'Skokiaan' is a particularly devious to use for this, as it's pretty long, and is arguably one of the happiest and funnest songs to bustle around to. The last time I used it at the end of a party, somebody ended up doing my taxes. ;}

That's a much better party-closer than the "party-stopping music" tape a friend of mine used to play - but that one was designed just to drive people out the door - this approach is much more humane & enjoyable.
(Hey, if you like "Skokiaan", do you know the versions by
Bud Isaacs, Joe Goldmark, or Buleto Sweet Rhythm Band? Those ones I think are all even more bustling than Louis' performance - )
