BYZANTINE AND YOU - THE BASEMENT MIXES
Comment:
This is the rest and relaxation portion of the party. Please leave a "subdued" song or comment. I will update the songs as they come in. Thanks for coming to my party but if I pass out and don't say goodbye.. forgive me. I'll start things off with my pick.Feedback:
Ahh the Basement.... My first pick is The Style Council - You're The Best Thing.
Larry Heard - Precious Tears ( Original Mix )
My alltime Fav.

Im too old for this partying all night business!! Mellow me out with Shear water - Wedding Bells are Breaking Up that Old Gang of Mine
sorry "Shearwater" See what i mean?, my brain is mush!!!
Hey guys, I can see that your'e winding it down now, so I'm gonna split as I got me some more partyin' to do (if you know what I mean), but I will leave you with a nice little tune by the New Age Steppers called 'Some Love', both Ari & Sherwood at their best ! Catch up with you ole guys later !!
Sexy Boy by Air, that is just pefect music for relaxation
Glorious by the Breeders! The musical equivalent of being in relaxing post-joint haze.
Mighty Diamonds - Right Time
Many Rivers To Cross by Jimmy Cliff.
Man, I love the wind-down of the party in the basement, b/c it's only the strong who survive and make it to that point. SO, my pick to follow Mighty Diamonds: M. Ward's version of "Let My Love Open the Door."
shit! Steelkille got in there first. Sorry 'bout that.
Flying Burrito Brothers 'Dark End Of The Street'
Love being in the basement, roll another & press play for - Thievery Corporation's -All That We Perceive.
Revolution 9, not sure if it fits, but a whacked out Beatles song in somebodys basement sure works for me.
Any Colour You Like/Brain Damage by Pink Floyd off of their Dark Side of The Moon Album (of course that LP set the all-time record for longevity, charting for 741 weeks).
*relaxes after one great party*
I'm bringing down Mazzy Star's "Fade Into You" to the basement.

I arrived too late for the main portion of the party, but I'll relax with you. I bring Isaac Hayes' "A Few More Kisses to Go" to the basement.

How's about Portishead's Sour Times.
Or...some jazzy goodness...Round about Midnite by the Miles Davis Quintet would do nicely
You pick.

What about "Everybody Knows This Is Know where" by Neil Young :-)
Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit" in the slow glow of the lava lamp...
I stumble downstairs with a bag of China White and Harry Nilsson's "Sweet Surrender". This has been a cool concept on your part and thanks for the invite. I'm curious as to how you chose who to send the initial invite emails to. Please elaborate. Cheers :-)
As PeeWee Herman would say, "I wouldn't sell my bike for all the money in the world. Not for a hundred million, billion, trillion dollars" The selection process is currently a secret.I can tell you that part of the 5 tier process involves algorithmic techniques. But with the right atmosphere + the right people = Good party. I hope that can answer your question a bit. :)
How about "Orca" - Wintersleep?
"Sometime Later" by Alpha. 7 minutes of calmed-down-goodness. It is relatively modern, so I guess it doesnt really fit well with the rest of the songs, but oh well!
Nothin' says it's time to go home like the locked groove on Brainwash by Flipper.
Oh boy, giving this a shot...
Walk on the Wild Side by Lou Reed

this basement is getting kinda stuffy--let's get some AIR in here! i'm thinking "Run"?
portions for foxes, by rilo kiley, fun and hip, like your guests.
this is a cool idea, biz. Jimmy Dale Gilmore & The Flatlanders - Tonight I Think I'm Gonna Go Downtown.
great mix idea - hope you'll enjoy chilling out on the beautiful and melancholic "prince alone in the studio" by smog
