Chicago is the new Jenny
Comment:
The title comes from something my roommate said to me a few weeks ago, as I've always insisted that "Jenny" is the go-to name for most rock songs. Whether it's true or not is obviously arguable (I mean, c'mon Cowboy Mouth?!)
Feedback:
Sleater-Kinney's "Jenny" would make a nice addition. (Pair it with Common's "Chi-City.") Welcome back to AotM!
Try "Born in Chicago" as performed by The Paul Butterfield Blues Band. And if you want other songs that mention Chicago or landmarks, you might like "Lake Shore Drive" by Aliotta-Haynes-Jeremiah, "These Dudes, They Got a Band" by Vermont, "When the Levee Breaks" by Led Zeppelin and on and on. I'm pretty sure you have "The El" by Rhett Miller, too.
Jenergy will no doubt like this if she sees it. Nice stuff.
Nice mix. For what it's worth you could also throw in Jenny Ondioline by Stereolab or even JLo's Jenny From The Block?!
And of course Paper Lace's immortal "The Night Chicago Died" stands up as one of the best horribly bad songs ever.
Jenergy is the go-to woman of rock.
Nice mix! The title sounds like a Malkmus lyric.
For the Jenny side, try De La Soul's "Jenifa Taught Me (Derwin's Revenge)."
Oh, and some Fiery Furnaces (particularly from Rehearsing My Choir) would be real nice.
Or "Sweet Spots" from EP.
I like that.
