Comment:
my friend and i heard everything's "hooch" on the radio and thought about all those great songs of our youth. i'll admit that third eye blind as a one-hit wonder is a stretch, but as far as i'm concerned, "semi-charmed life" was far and away their only worthwhile song.Feedback:
the flys would definitely show up on my top 25 list of 90s one-hit wonders!
I'm not sure you can call Blur and Fugees one hit wonders?
I agree with p the swede on this one. The Fugees are hardly a one hit wonder. What about 'Ready or Not'? 'Fu-gee-la'? As for Blur I think they are a far cry from 'one-hit' wonders. The Cardigans too had a few hits, albeit not that many.
All that aside, this is a good collection of tracks and can definitely relate to your comment concerning looking back at the songs of your youth - some real gems here.

You see, Yomma has no problem at all with the absence of capital letters. I've failed again."One-Hit-Wonders" or not, there are some great songs on the mix.
YOU RULE
in terms of songs that blur and the fugees had that were popular, they definitely had more than a few -- but in terms of stuff that actually achieved "hit" status on mainstream top 40 radio, i don't think that "ready or not" or "coffee and tv" (etc.) really ever reached the same level. maybe "girls and boys," but it wasn't the song that made them most famous in the u.s. (if you look at the wikipedia entry on blur, you'll see that even it refers to "song 2" as the song that made many people consider blur a one-hit wonder.) "fu-gee-la" and "ready or not" never broke the top 20 on the top 40 charts ("kiling me softly" hit number one). obviously it depends on your definition of "one-hit wonder," though. but i'm still arguing that if i'm going to put third eye blind on a one-hit wonder mix, i shouldn't have to defend my fugees/blur picks. ;-)
I don't remember the song "Hooch" and thank God because that's a horrible title. I'm sure I missed nothing. On a side note, I'm sad that the world thinks of Third Eye Blind as one-hit wonders. Yeah that song was 10x more popular than anything else they did, and for my money their best work, but they did plenty of other worthwhile things in their career. Not blaming you or anything, just lamenting the band's relegation to punchline status.
Otherwise, I like the predominance of late '90s alt-rock, like Marvelous 3, The Flys, Caviar, Bosstones, that fabulously gay Marcy Playground song, and TEB. Takes me back to a very particular time in my life. The rest is solid as well - you should've tried to pack more in (God knows there are hundreds)

Considering how many of these artists are deservedly one-hit wonders, this actually looks like a fun listen in a nostalgic way. Others I might have included would be Chumbawamba's "Tubthumping," Len's "Steal My Sunshine," Fun Lovin' Criminals' "Scooby Snacks," etc. As for Blur -- though, as others indicate, they were way too popular to fit this genre, that was largely in the UK; here in the states, I really do think "Song 2" is the only Blur song that made any (radio) impact. (Similarly, the comparable Pulp might also be considered a one-hit wonder here in the States (for the wonderful "Common People") notwithstanding their popularity in the UK.)
very nice!
