Comment:

My first of the year!

I distributed my holiday mix for this year via email, along with the traditional "What I've done this year" letter, in which I mentioned that I'd been doing a lot of Alternating DJ mixes. Well, my very music-savvy buddy, Jack, piped up to say he'd like to do one with me. This is the result, and darned fine, if I do say so myself. So, given that none of you know Jack's taste in music, can you guess whether I'm odds or evens?

Oh, and for help with the puzzle, you can download the mix here.

Title from The Decemberists.

nice, and for that cover , is it from a Lo-fi Jr mix or is it a common artwork, just curious

P, I found the cover on the Net many years ago and used it as a cassette cover. When we decided on the title, it seemed like a good image for it. Hadn't realized lo-fi had already used it, or I would have refrained - I hope it doesn't seem like I'm stepping on his toes!

I, too, guess odds...though both choices bring the musical delights. Wanda Jackson is just the bees knees.

I'm with the others re you being on odds Jen. That Black Hole Sun cover looks interesting. Seems like Jack was a more than able musical partner to your good self.

Well you always struck me as a bit odd, so that's my guess;) You and Jack (Ruby?) did a wonderful job. And yes, the cover is to die for, though that's not quite how I remember the Pulitzer Prize winning picture. Another conspiracy to alter the course of history?

That Gogol Bordello track is pretty interesting. The stretch from The Beatles to the 13th Floor Elevators is rocking!

A most enjoyable mix, with many standout tracks. It's clear that you were on odds, no really, it is. The "stolen" cover art is surely proof that poor old Lee Harvey did not act alone. Perhaps he was just guesting for J. D. Tippit, -- -- the usual frontman for The Dallas Police Department Mafia Connection -- a rather funky beat combo at that time. Tippit died under very "suspicious" circumstances, just prior to Oswald's appearance. I suppose we'll never know. Hey, that's Rock 'n' Roll...

Love it! Many faves, such as the 8-10 stretch. Some great song titles as well, such as O Valencia! True Love Is Not Nice & Bury-It-Yourself Time Capsules.
The first of many this year I hope, Jenny.

Wonderful mix - a most excellent collaboration and it looks like each of your tastes are really well matched. I love that Peter Mulvey -> Wanda Jackson, and the Beck. Did anyone get the answer yet? I think you're on odds, but then I don't know Jack (geddit?! sorry) Good job, guys.
