Comment:

A recent acquisitions mix spanning 70 years and several thousand miles. A friend's son just returned from 5 years in Africa nd there are several tunes on here that he brought back with him.
A nod to Gobi, who insisted a couple years ago that a Rickie Lee / Chuck E. tune existed. I had not been able to find it (or confirm its existance) until the recent CD release of Chuck E's long out of print, vinyl only "The Other Side of Town" from 1981. Title from the Nick Cave track (the abundance of Nick's on this disc is purely coincidental). Link for a fun little journey.

as always, looks wonderfully charming & earthy, as so many of your mixes are - your opener, mag fields, black mountain, nick drake & tom waits picks are especially making this for me

I like this a lot, particularly the Drake, Lowe, Black Mountain, Cave, Waits, RT, Mag Fields, Prof Longhair and Moby Grape tracks.

What? No Nick CArter? He's the most significant of all the Nicks -- even St. Nick. Oh never mind. Plenty of good things to be found here. Vampire Weekend fits right in with that African theme.

Yeah, man. I definitely like the looks of this one a LOT. Dig the Truckers, Nick Cave, Black Mountain and Nick Lowe tracks a bunch and the rest is stuff I need to check out. Good mix.

Gave this a listen last night... really enjoyed that Habib KoitT & Bamada track. Gotta find me some more of that. Really cool closer too... and I'm not even much of a Tom Waits fan.

Vampire Weekend has been popping up quite a bit lately, enough that I may have to get their CD. I really enjoyed this one. Took a walk outside and imagined foreign lands.
