Comment:

Companion mix to the last one I posted - another one for my mother (part of her birthday present last week), and thus another unusually catchy affair for a mix of mine. The Sinatra track was shamelessly stolen from one of Salman1's mixes.

Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic!!! The fact that your mother would be able to listen to the lyrics of "A King at Night" (one of my favorite BPB songs, mind you) and not throw the stereo against the wall forever endears her to me. I'm also especially fond of the Ween, Libertines, and Nina tracks. Lastly, I meant to give you a nod re: the title of my newest mixed-genre mix, since I realize that the line that I picked from "War Star Days" is within two of your "...revolutionary slogans" mix. ;-)

Hahaha, thanks for that comment, Rob. I got to admit that I did have my doubts about the inclusion of that BPB song, and I don't think I'd have put it on there if it wasn't for the fact that my mother doesn't really pay attention to lyrics, and that, even if she did happen to pick up that snippet, I'm not even sure she'd understand the phrase "going down on her/me" (English not being her native language and all that). Still, even if she did, I doubt she'd throw the stereo against the wall (which would be pretty disrespectful, considering that the stereo itself was the other part of her birthday present).

Neil Halstead, Radar Bros. and James Yorkston are great choices.

Hey, no shame in stealing that Nancy Sinatra track... I stole it from the Kill Bill Soundtrack. Anyway, your mom has some taste. I really liked the 5-7 and 17-19 stretches in particular.

I heard one opinion that The National album "Boxer" (which contains "Brainy") was the best thing of 2007. I couldn't quite get on board that train, but this mix looks wonderful. And a stereo to play it on? You are indeed a good daughter.

I tend to agree on The National. Saw them open once for Alejandro Escovedo and was unimpressed. The mix, however, looks very good.

Lovely present. The Ween, Townes, Devendra and Mag Fields picks stand out.

That Nancy track was on the Kill Bill soundtrack? God help us, say it ain't so! I never saw the movie, but that song was one of my favorites like 12 years ago. Now I will never hear it without shuddering. This is a fine mix. Happy birthday to your mom.

Ah, well, all I needed was a little Townes to love this mix.
