Comment:

This mix was made in part as a response to the documentary American Hardcore and the soundtrack that accompanied it. Now I will give it some credit it did feature essential bands like Bar Brains, Minor Threat and D.O.A. However, I found it to be lacking in key scenes such as New York (Cro Mags were included in the soundtrack who in my opinion were the worst of the bunch) and Canada with D.O.A being the only inclusion. In any event how can you do a movie and soundtrack about the 1980's hardcore movement without Dead Kennedys, Hnsker Dn & The Misfits.

So yeah this contains songs recorded between 1979 and 1986 because about that time it was all over. Revolution Summer occurred in Washington D.C. and bands morphed more into post-hardcore, Bad Brains had become metal, Social D became rockabilly/country punk and the NYHC scene would develop into modern tough guy hardcore and straight edge Youth Crew movements. enjoy.

Great job on really digging in there and pulling out the more obscure hardcore acts of the day. Can't claim to know ALL these bands, since I was never a full-on disciple of that scene, but it is pretty fascinating and I can't wait to give each side a listen to see what the documentary left out.
