Comment:

Okay, so this is quite possibly the weirdest jumble of songs I've ever assembled into one mix before, but I have my reasons! This cd is for my friend Trevor, who pratically mashed his ankle into pulp by way of a washing machine accident (don't ask). So, I've decided to provide him with an entertaining li'l mix to help him pass the time while he heals. Because to the untrained eye, this mix is nothing short of horrific, here are my reasons for including these songs:
Track 1: Trevor's something of a hip-hop kid; plus, being that today is Canada Day, I thought it was fitting to start off with a Canadian artist. Especially Maestro!
Track 2-6: Just a general jumble of songs I like that I think everyone in the world should hear at some point or another, and stuff that's been in my cd player constantly lately (I'm wearing that Thursday track into the ground).
Track 7: Trevor's the sort of person who will just generally appreciate the sweetness/semi-absurdity of this song. One of my personal all-time favourites.
Track 8: IT'S THE KIDS OF WIDNEY HIGH!!
Track 9: I'm a dork, yeah, but this is another one of my all-time favourite songs, and I KNOW Trevor would agree with me on this one 'cause he's kind of a dork too :)
Track 10: I played this for him once and he seemed to get a mild kick out of it.
Track 11: "I'm like Captain Vegetable!" "Yeah! Except... not at all!!" Then he admitted he has no idea who Captain Vegetable even IS.
Track 12: Seemed appropriate after Captain Vegetable, since it's set in a grocery store. Also, Trevor works in a grocery store.
Track 13: Another one of those weirdly enjoyable guilty pleasure type tracks.
Track 14: Included simply because I adore this song and want to share it with everyone.
Track 15: We were listening to Jason Mraz in my car one day and Trevor said he liked it, so yeah.
Track 16: In honour of the concert we attended, where Sam Roberts had EVERYONE singing along to the chorus, even though no one really seemed to know what they were saying. "OHHH!! SOCIALISM!!!!"
Track 17: Another concert song... I'd probably have used a different track, but this was the song that made me cry at the concert (shut up!) and Trevor will probably remember that. Plus this song just generally makes me think of my friends for some reason. So yeah.
Track 18: Another song that just generally makes me think of my friends.
Track 19: This song really doesn't fit in at all, and that's saying something considering how messed this mix is... but it's another one of those songs that I love that I just wanted Trevor to have. Kind of a depressing way to finish off the mix but ahwell. The Kids of Widney High track makes up for it!

Butcher away, I'm aware that it's awful :) It's meant to be half fun, half exposure to songs/bands that he otherwise probably wouldn't hear.
