January 7 2003,
In late december, a good friend and I took the grave risk of making out. For many previous months, the crush grew and grew in my mind, so i was quite elated... Unfortunately, for the rest of december and all of January we were to be apart. So, I sent this tape as a substitute for my presence. Many of the songs were to represent conversations we could have had, or referenced actual moments. A good deal of the songs were strait up "I have a crush on you, and here's the proof in song." Some songs were meant as gifts, such as the Antiproduct and the SakT songs. Both expressed a vibrant creative rage that I found attractive in her and thought she would identify with.

Sad story is, it was never meant to be. I was overzealous, and damn too near falling in love. A scary situation at that time in our friendship--most especially for her, i think.

I wish I had images of the art! My booklet was so big (including lyrics and annotations) that it wouldn't fit with a tape in a tape case. So, I made a plexiglass box to hold it all.

While she listened to the tape, I biked across southern Texas. That's the context, that's all.
