Comment:

Just a convenient collection of some of my favorites from the eighties (and a few from the 90s) that I would like to introduce Anne too in case she missed them first time around. I kicked it off with a pre-fame SST-era brooding Screaming Trees track since I know Anne already digs their later stuff. The Dumptruck cut is one of my favorite songs by them from their finest album "For the Country". The album has been out of print for almost 15 years, but that all changes on November 4th when Rykodisc will be reissuing their first three albums, all remastered with bonus tracks. I highly recommend that everyone who likes the types of bands I have included on this comp to check them out! :) The Translator track is a great album cut...they deserved much more than to be remembered for just one song. The Colin Newman track is a great melodic cut that equals, if not betters, such melodic Wire numbers as "Ahead", or "Kidney Bingos". Great post-punk underground classics by The Only Ones, Chameleons, Comsat Angels. Lots of other fab tracks here IMHO ;-) I'm pretty happy with it. Cheers! Brent

This mix features one of my all time favs: House OF Love - Shine On. Such a great song.
Alone for that song you deserve to get a mix of the week.

What they said..., although House of Love had a TON of great singles! As did Icehouse...

Yeah...you're right about HoL and Icehouse having a lot of other great tracks. I think Shine On is a great representative HoL song...maybe their best. And the Icehouse song is cool because it's got a quirky little pep to it. That said, my favorite Icehouse track is probably "The Kingdom", but I need to buy some of the Aussie reissues that came out a year or two back. Cheers!

This is great - ditto the Chameleons pick - and it's nice to see an 80s mix which includes a lot of the (very good) bands which people tend to forget about. Btw thanks for the comments, and yep, a trade would be great sometime!
