Comment:

The full name of this mix is "Re-education:rock history class for the philistines who claim that that milkshake/billy jean song by kelis is the height of musical achievement." It's not a cassette but two cd's. It's not the best of these bands, because i'm sure that many of these bands did something either more ambitious or inspiring elsewhere, but it serves as an introduction. Possibly their most accessable songs. And i bet i left some great ones out, any suggestions are welcome. Let us kneel before the gods and ROCK! Hailed by Conor as "the most generic mix i've ever seen!" (this is possibly a compliment - i don't know because i don't know what generic means.)

A few songs I can't stand (Overdrive, Steppenwolf), but mostly songs I greatly enjoy, definite classios in my mind. Solid concept with good execution.

There isn't anything wrong with a little bit of good old played-to-death-on-the-radio rock n roll. I like most of these songs because I wasn't around in the 70s when they were playing these many times a day. I mean it's really kinda tough to trash My Generation, Break on Through, All Along the Watchtower, Highway to Hell, etc. So def. a good mix.

generic means all-purpose. Like cornflakes without a brand would be called "Generic Cornflakes." Or the Brady Bunch might be hailed as the "Generic American Family."

i think we take for granted how great most of these songs were because the have been played to death on the radio and some of them on mtv...but you're right, it would be a great introduction to all those assholes who think good charlotte is punk, and staind is actually an original band with something to say

Solid mix. Anyone who considers Kelis talented needs to go back to the doctor and demand their brains back. This should have been the soundtrack to "School of Rock." Covers a lot of ground when it comes to rock. Nice work.
