Comment:

There are actually two other tracks in this mix, but I couldn't fit them in the 30 slots provided. Here they are: 31) "Forty Miles of Bad Road" by Duane Eddy and 32) "Rumble" by Link Wray.

Famous and obscure early rock and roll songs come together on this mix. The title comes from Johnny Depp's character's description of rock and roll in the film "Cry Baby" by John Waters. I think it fits.

Jackie Brenston is actually an alias for Ike Turner. I included "Rocket 88" because I think it represents the completion of jump blues, the R&B genre that spawned rock & roll. To me, Elvis will always have the first rock & roll song with "That's All Right." "What'd I Say" by Ray Charles is really the first soul song, and Link Wray's "Rumble" is, in my opinion, the first song which we could label "rock;" it pretty much laid the groundwork for all 60s rock.

Although you've got the artist and song fields backwards, this looks very interesting! I really need to hear more '50s rock and roll.
