Comment:

An Imbolg mix, telling the story of Persephone through contemporary songs -- a beloved little girl, apparently all innocence and purity, goes missing. She has been kidnapped, taken down to Hades, where the dark lord of death strives to seduce her and make her his wife. Meanwhile her mother, the earth goddess Demeter, searches grief-stricken for her, letting the world wither in an icy winter in her single-minded sorrow. Finally, with the help of Grandmother Hecate and the youthful god called Hermes, Demeter finds her Persephone; the icicle melts, the ice breaks, life returns, winter disappears from the world. Light reappears. But because she ate six pomegranate seeds while in Hades, she is bound to return for six months of every year, during which time her mother mourns again and winter returns, only for Persephone's re-emergence in the spring to herald the return of warmth and light and life to the world.

Wow! I'm especially digging the Frente, Sarah McLachlan, and Jane Siberry. This mix is full of such good voices, and beautiful lyrics. It all meshes really well thematically too. You obviously put some effort into this, and it shows. Bravo!
