MICHAEL MCDONALD IS MISTER COURTESY SPLASH

'What A Fool Believes' is definitely one of my guilty pleasures.
I am unsure if this is meant to be post-modern irony, or if You actually are a fan. For my part I freely admit to a enjoying most of the tracks listed. I am also short. However, due to an irrational fear of public toilets, I have never inflicted my effluent on any other member of the paying public. In conclusion I will say this. Well, that's got that of my chest. Now wash your hands thoroughly.
I like the Doobies in all their lives, versions and iterations. MM isn't my top 'o the pops as a vocalist but I accidently saw him this past summer (yes accidently since I wanted to see the opener, Joan Osborne and stayed to see what he did.) Not bad... Not bad. Still I prefer Pat S. and Tom J. "The Captain & Me" can still bring a tear to my eyes.
yikes!
LOL!!!OMG!! ROTFLMAO!!!I really hated what the Doob's became once he came on board, leaving behind the jazz/latin/pop fusion for becoming "merely" MM's back up band, not unlike what happened to Genesis after PG left and PC took over.
Always despised the Doobies (though I have fond memories of playing the pre-MM "China Grove" on guitar when I was a kid at camp, mainly because it only had like 3 chords).
I can't pretend to understand why the human brain is wired this way, but to this day I still remember Rog asking "Which Doobie you be?" on that What's Happening episode. Damn, I can't remember my wife's birthday half the time, but I can still remember that one line from a cheesy sitcom I saw 30 years ago.

the pre-MM Doobies can do..."Long Train Runnin' " still gets played here...
Years back my mate Jeff used to guarantee himself some bedroom action by simply playing MM for his girlfriend, that's about all I can say re the man. Love the cover btw.
I pretty much hate every single song by both incarnations by the Doobie Brothers, but I applaud your ballsiness in compiling this mix. :-)
Actually I didn't really like te Doobies until old McDonald joined the farm. I used to spin Livin' on the Fault Line and Minute by Minute for hours on end when I started to hit puberty. Yes, Michael McDonald guided me into adulthood. So does anyone remember the SCTV sketch with Rick Moranis impersonating the white-haired Doobie? And yes, that What's Happenin' episode (which I believe was a two-parter) is a classic, and taught me never to illegally tape a rock concert. It was also funny to see the Doobies mocked in the 40 Year Old Virgin.
Well... they had their high points and low points throughout both phases of their career. I checked out their 4 CD box set from the library recently and really saw that good/bad thing going.
I, too learned to never illegally tape a rock concert. It is best to pay-off the soundboard guy to patch into a mini-disc recorder. The sound quality is much better that way. LOL... The Doobies did seem to take the role of backup band for Michael after awhile. There are certainly high and low points with pre and post Doobies as well as solo McDonald. A 4-CD box set seems a bit ridiculous when a double disc compilation would cover everything. But that is this mixer's opinion. Plus, my favourite "Sweet Feelin'" featuring Nicolette Larson, the b-side to "Minute By Minute" is not included. *double sigh* Could someone puh-leeze dropload the "Sweet Feelin'" mp3 for me??
There ya go DJ K. I think talking about Nicolette Larson is how we met! I'd like that too!

he's so underated, one of the best blue eyed soul voices ever
Thanks to sammyg123 for the "Sweet Feelin'"dropload. Whether ya hate him or love him, he may very well be under-rated. He may be in danger of becoming a parody of himself. Oops! Too late!!!
Youre welcome. Are you talking about me or Michael McDonald?
LOL...McDonald.
Saw Michael perform a year ago -just an $18 ticket also offered the Average White Band (still funkin' hard) and Hall & Oates (surprisingly competent). McDonald's voice in a live setting blew me away.
Wow! Great mix... Track one is one of my favorite songs. Nicely done Karen.
