BEST. DYLAN SONG. EVER.
Soooo love the Brother Louie track! And Hynotized is a gem. (And Good Lord, haven't all those cheap Certron cassettes self-destructed by now?!)
No nonsense indeed. Nice mix, great Dylan pick. And my fave Prince track aswell.
excellent! There's Nicolette again!
*sigh*Girl, do you ever get tired of putting out mixes so damn good that they stop me dead in my tracks?#10 is one of the most (and I hate to say it but it is true) mesmerizing tracks any band has put out, ever... just amazing... and to start ANY mix that includes this, but starts with Mingus... you take my breath away.... ;)
Concise, entertaining and informative. Love the Bobby Womack track. If I may add one more comment: flawless.
Lots of realy great picks here.
Wow does this make me a quoted writer? (lowers spectacles, strokes bearded chin and inhales sharply from pipe) Great Prince and Dylan picks among others. Nice
Outstanding opening run right thru' that Fleetwood Mac, and on out. (Great notes, too DJ Karen.) No nonsense.
Nice. And, enlightening.
Well done.
This is great--one of your very best mixes. Great notes, too.
Very cool....I'll have to find some time to read those notes - but the mix looks sweet.
Razors pain you
Rivers are damp
Acid stains you
And drugs cause cramp.
Guns aren't lawful
Nooses give
Gas smells awful
You might as well live.

Mmmmingus. Excellent.
Aha! You thought I wouldn't notice the title's transformation. Subtle, I'll give you that. But you have to get up pretty early to fool me. 6.15am should do it. Damn! that's torn it. It's all very pretty but very suspicious -- dun dun darrr!
Mingus is humungous among us, no nonsense!
No clever comment, just simply cool.
Really, really great, and it's always nice to see good liner notes. Love the Dusty Springfield and Mingus.
Superb
running away into you, sammyg123 and Barrydali: I have heard variations and other renditions by various recording artists over the years and I keep coming "home" to this one. Mixxer: The Prince track is a nice little break from the norm. I am also a big fan of songs that refer to poets, artists and literature. A recording artist that educates is much better in the long run than one that "dumbs it down" for the masses.
Little Spencer Boys: Nicolette Larson was truly talented and underrated. This Doobie song also features Michael McDonald and his signature backup singing style sort of a throwback to his Steely Dan days. A little sappy but for me...it works.
Nomates, Orchid, musicgnome, George Metadata, French Connection: Thanks for taking time out of your mix projects to kindly post words of encourgement.
SteveRaglin Always love when this song gets airplay these days. It's rare in this region and usually subject to countdown extra treatment or one hit wonders list. And regarding Certron products, strangely enough, I have had far more Memorex cassettes self-destruct than Certrons. Like a wino's system rejecting Chardonnay, perhaps my tape decks couldn't get used to the upgrade. Some of my best mixes from back in the day are on the Certron brand. Weird, huh?!!?
Rob Conroy, Siobhan, Curtis_Burns, 12vman, joey de vivre: I have learned the importance of liner notes here at AoTM. I used to subscribe to the model that the music should/will speak for itself. Well, sometimes it does not or cannot; at times with compiled songs the connections have to be spelled out.
April 20, valis: The amazing, practically telepathic (syncopated) drums and bass are constant with no changes provides a backdrop to the spacey vocals and jazzy guitars. Certainly hypnotic by design!
