Comment:

On this date, there was a shooting at a gay bar in my town. A man whose last name was Gay walked in and killed one man and wounded 6 others. Some of us in the community were shocked. Some of us not at all. Some of us thought for sure that it would never happen in our little town. Some of us wanted to pass it off as a one-time occurance by a crazed man. But all of us were scared.

There was a vigil the next night and there were about a thousand candles, a million flowers, and six copies of this mix tape with a sign that said "make copies and pass around". It was the only response I could think of at the time.

I left it anonymously and swore that I'd never cop to making it. And I guess posting it here is anonymous too. But I read about another shooting, at another gay bar, that just happened in MA so I thought I'd post it. 'Cause another queer community is scared and overwhelmed right now.

Alot of my mixes wind up feeling dated. I discover new songs or don't have a song at the time I make a mix. So I usually update them when I rediscover them or make another copy. But I'm not doing it with this one. It's of a place and time and I'm keeping it that way for this post. But it's not meant to be a definitive mix so if you like this or get something out of it, by all means add your own songs or make a brand new one.

Just wanted to put this out into the universe.

Well, it's a pretty good collection of songs, apart from "I am what I am" -- which irritates me in an illogical fashion. Not sure what to make of your comments, although your motives are admirable. Perhaps I live a sheltered life here in Blighty.
