I've been seeing quite a few "for the hell of it" mixes on the site lately, and this is my contribution. It includes some recent discoveries, like the Avalanches' incredible Beat of Soweto-ish remix of B&S's "I'm A Cuckoo" and Rachel Sweet's pop-punk "Cuckoo Clock." You'll also find selections from the excellent new CDs by Sing-Sing, Psapp and the Concretes. And if you're into reissues, you better scrape up some change to buy the recent Boyce & Hart collection, which is worth every cent (thanks Matt!). Want a copy with no strings attached? Be the first to tell me the name of the building on the cover. It's located in a major American city.
Feedback:
Hello Moe! i Don't know that building but it looks awesome :D Anyway, lets talk about this mix. I dont know many tracks there, but Architecture in Helsinki YES! it's great as that song...and and..Belle & Sebastian is my favorite artist ever! (i dont know that remix, have to check it out) I also like Talking Heads and that song is great! I like Doris too, but i dont remember that song. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! fit perfectly after Talking Heads. (shortly: Beautiful Mix!!) --Little Nicky--
great stuff, nice building, don't know where unfortunally
Wow, this is fantastic. And yes, that Avalanches remix is excellent, everything they touch turns to gold.
This is great. I love it when you just let loose "for the hell of it" (TM).
This looks incredible Moe. I'd love to hear it. Is the buildings name Derek?
Hey, I know that 7:30 guided tour tune. Now, why is that? Hmmm....
My guess for the building name: The Vandalay Industries Building.

That Avalanches remix of I'm a Cuckoo is genius. Top mix Moe. Don't know the building but I hope for the sake of comedy that Sam is right. Derek! heeheehee
I like this.
fuh-reaking great. yessss
More songs about buildings & food! This looks delicious, from the sweet Rachel Sweet to the intoxicating "summer wine", and . .. whoa, the Anita Kerr Singers?????
Just like tommy boyce, I'm digging it.
My guess: the Scrabble Board building in Sim City. (But if that's not a contest-winning guess, could I offer anything in trade for this??)

How do you filter the strings out of the songs? Noidea where Derek is but this is a fab mix mon ami.
Is it Viper Towers?
This looks, dare I say, bombastic. I love that Boyce & Hart track, and only have it on cassette. I must find this re-issue of which you speak.

Great opening track. Like the Boyce and Hart - finally got a (vinyl) copy of that second lp. No clue about the building.
The opening ten look delicious, and I'm sure the other 15 keep it rockin'as well. Well, google is no help with this one, although I think I've seen it before...
Good go here Ionic One! Lots (and LOTS) to like and listen to...pure pop for Now Peoples. (Is that the infamous Book Depository, in Dull-ass, Tejas..?)
Awesome, awesome, awesome. (Great cover too, but unfortunately, I have no idea what the building is!) Love the XTC, B&S remix, and those lovely Concretes.
Dang Moe, I was gonna' use a bunch of these on my next Pop/Ambient mix. And even after checking with my friends Dan Zing, Archie Texture & Bill Ding...I'm still about 14 stories short of the answer for your quiz.
Rats.
Rats.
Cool mix. No idea what the building is.
Great mix (as always). Love the zumpano, boyce/hart, nancy/lee, and xtc (same song just went on my most recent mix). And that B&S remix is pretty damn cool.
As for the cover, isn't that the prison in downtown Chicago?

Congratulations Slack-a-gogo! Yes, it's the Campbell Courthouse, a.k.a. the big pen. I hope you don't know what the inside looks like. The mix and a get out of jail free card will be headed your way soon.
Looks definitely quakeproof with an unshakeable foundation. Despite the inclusion of the infamous Botho Lucas Chor . . . ;)
Looks very interesting, a mix of the-known-to-be-great and the unknown. At least to me.
i guess i missed this one. just waint to say , it looks really fun.
I missed this one as well...great stuff!
